Co-operation

The Committee serves to coordinate the activities of cotton associations worldwide with the aim of developing the cotton industry and global trade in this commodity. The Committee key objectives include:

• maintaining standards of good trading practices and contract sanctity;
• ensuring the observance of arbitration procedures and compliance with arbitration awards;
• providing a forum for dialogue to improve conditions for cotton trade;
• maintaining a list of companies that fail to honour valid arbitration awards.

ICAC is a global organisation comprising governments of cotton-producing, consuming, and trading countries. The Committee mission is to collect and analyse worldwide statistical data on cotton production and processing, and to conduct research into new technologies in cultivation and manufacturing. The Gdynia Cotton Association is an active participant in the work of the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) and other ICAC working groups.

The Gdynia Cotton Association is one of the signatories to the Universal Cotton Standards Agreement between the U.S. Department of Agriculture and leading cotton associations worldwide. The Agreement determines universal standards for American cotton.

EUROCOTON represents European spinners and weavers of cotton and allied fibres, acting as the voice of Europe’s cotton and textile industry. Supporting the textile sector, it is particularly active in trade-related matters, promoting a free, yet fair trading environment.

DNFI is a global platform for stakeholders in the natural fibre sector. It facilitates knowledge exchange, supports common interests, and promotes the environmental, economic, and social benefits that natural fibre industries bring to the global community.

Formerly known as the Liverpool Cotton Association (LCA), ICA is the world’s oldest cotton trade association. Founded during the height of the British trade dominance ant it has been the first and most influential organisation which set out the framework for global cotton trade. Today, in an era of globalisation and diversified markets, ICA remains a key centre for cotton arbitration and trade facilitation.

The Bremen Cotton Exchange represents producers, processors, and traders of cotton, defending the interests of the cotton industry before policymakers, authorities, and the public. The BBB provides its members with comprehensive information and advisory services throughout the entire cotton value chain.
